Description

Stationary oxygen concentrators are medical devices designed to produce a concentrated oxygen-air mixture for oxygen therapy. These devices are used in medical facilities such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes for the treatment and prevention of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as for recovery after surgery and injury.

Stationary oxygen concentrators operate using pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology. Air passes through filters that remove dust and other impurities, then enters columns containing molecular sieves that trap nitrogen. The result is a concentrated oxygen-air mixture with an oxygen content of up to 93–96%.

Stationary oxygen concentrators are used to treat various conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, bronchial asthma, heart failure, and other conditions requiring supplemental oxygenation. They can also be used to prevent hypoxia in patients with limited mobility or those at risk of developing respiratory failure.

When choosing a stationary oxygen concentrator, it is important to consider parameters such as output, oxygen concentration, noise level, availability of additional features (e.g. a humidifier or alarm system), and compliance with the medical facility’s requirements. Stationary oxygen concentrators should be used under the supervision of medical staff to ensure safe and effective therapy.
